TEXARKANA — Nine years ago in the summer of 2012 three current players on this year’s Pleasant Grove Hawks Hawks team (Blake Jennings, JM Long and Brock Bearden) were on an eight-year-old Texarkana West all-star team that won a state championship.
Their coach was Brent Bearden.
Fox Sports Texarkana 97.1 FM & 1490 AM’s Bob DelGiorno interviewed Coach Bearden every morning early from the hotel room on the phone. Then, he went to the championship game and broadcasted the game live.
After they won state, Bob had them in studio. Now Bob will broadcast these same three kids at the State 4A games in Austin.
The Hawks state semi-final and final will be broadcast live on 94.1 FM-ESPN.
Now that’s a cool story.
