MARSHALL, Texas – It was all about second chances for Pleasant Grove and Blake Jennings Saturday afternoon at Marshall High School’s new diamond.
Jennings didn’t have his best stuff Thursday, and the Hawks lost their Region II-4A best-of-three playoff opener to Spring Hill. Jennings entered in relief Saturday with Pleasant Grove leading, and the Hawks made him a winner, 11-6. The two schools played a decisive third game after Saturday’s first game. The winner advances to play Melissa in the regional semifinals.
Jennings better out of the bullpen
Spring Hill (25-9) got to Hawk starter Tucker Anderson early. He allowed three runs in two innings. Jennings took over in the top of the third, and pitched into the fifth, allowing three hits and striking out five.
