Grandview strikes back, dusts off Atlanta 7-1 in Game 2

WHITEHOUSE, Texas — The Grandview Zebras rebounded to beat the Atlanta Rabbits 7-1 in Game 2 of the regional semifinals.

The decisive Game 3 will be played at 4:00 p.m. in Tyler on KPYN. The winner will advance to the regional finals.

The Superior Realty Player of the game was Ty Graf, who went 2-of-3 at the plate and played stellar behind the plate.

The A-Jim’s Down n’ Dirty Hustle goes to Kale Carpenter for his stellar hustle plays throughout the ballgame, although the Zebras buried the Rabbs with a large deficit.

Graph did not have his head down and looked forward to Game 3.

“This team is really good at finding a way to get it done,” Graph said. “I don’t think there is a way anybody can get past us. The first game, we took care of business once we got rolling. We got a good coaching staff and we’ll get it done tomorrow.”

Coach Dave Hooten was flipping a coin with Grandview to determine who would be home and away for Game 3. Assistant coach Logan Puckett filled in for Coach Hooten in the postgame interview and said they were unable to play the Zebras’ small-ball in Game 2.

“We’re going to get after it,” Puckett said of Game 3. “Our guys responded all year.”
