Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over. It’s a national law enforcement effort to keep the roadways safe during peak holiday times.
Police agencies on both sides of Texarkana and throughout Arkansas and Texas want to make this New Years Holiday period a safe one. They remind motorists to drive sober or get pulled over. If you are going to partake of alcoholic beverages between now and New Years Day, either have a designated sober driver or call a cab or Uber to get you to your next destination.
There will be extra patrols on the roadways and could even be some designated DWI checkpoints in some locations. There is zero tolerance for anyone driving under the influence. Authorities will also be looking for people not wearing their seat belts or having their children in their proper safety seats.
Motorists should also remember to slow down in any construction zones. You should drive the posted speed limit anywhere you drive. Fines are doubled in active construction zones.

Law enforcement also reminds you that driving drowsy is very dangerous as well. They say take turns driving and take plenty of breaks. Distracted driving is a big cause of accidents. Keep your focus on the road, stay off your cell phone and never text and drive at the same time.
Authorities want you to end 2018 and start 2019 in a safe manner.
Happy New Year!!
