Cody Howard-Fox Sports Texarkana Man of the Year

Cody Howard has been named Fox Sports Texarkana Man of The Year for 2018.

Howard is the founder and pastor of Church Under the Bridge in Texarkana. He is also the Executive Director of Mission Texarkana. It’s a life sustaining service organization and community center. Mission Texarkana has served the homeless and impoverished of our city for over 50 years.

Advocate for Christian Community Development

Cody has been a successful advocate for Christian community development in our city for 12 years. He has helped both churches and non-profits shift their focus from relief work to empowerment based development. Church Under the Bridge has become a beacon of light and hope in northeast Texas. It has mobilized dozens of local churches and organizations. Their goal has been to aid, befriend, and advocate for the homeless and impoverished.

Cody is leading the transition of Mission Texarkana. They are transforming the Mission from what has been a large, mostly relief based service provider. Mission Texarkana is becoming a lively community development organization where life happens every day.

Cody has served on the Texas Christian Community Development Network board of directors since 2015. He has represented the region of northeast Texas. Currently Cody serves as Vice President.

Fisher of Men

“Cody is a servant of the Lord who feeds the souls of many who need the protective presence of Jesus,” Fox Sports Texarkana’s owner Bob DelGiorno said, “He’s a fisher of Men.”

In his spare time, Cody loves roasting his own coffee, also, studying doctrine and theology. He is said to be an expert at hanging out. Cody enjoys life with Jill, his beautiful bride of 19 years. The couple has three children, Madelynn 16, Brooklynn 14, and Hollan 10.
