Bradley, Fouke win SW Arkansas Invitational titles

MINERAL SPRINGS, Ark. – Bradley (19-4) was never challenged Saturday night by host Mineral Springs (6-8), the Bears winning the Southwest Arkansas Invitational High School Basketball tournament, 61-39.

Fouke’s girls improved to 16-3 on the season Saturday, beating Ashdown, 52-45.

The newly crowned champions trailed 26-19 at halftime. It was tied at 35-all after three quarters.

Whittney McMurry led the winners with 11 points. Jade Perry and Laykin Smallwood scored 10 points each. Kenya Wilson poured in 17 points for Ashdown.

Ashdown boys alone in first place

AMITY, Ark. – Ashdown’s boys captured undisputed possession of first place in conference Friday night, routing Centerpoint, 58-33.

The Panthers (13-1, 5-0) are the top-ranked boys team in the Texarkana area according to MaxPreps. Centerpoint (9-4, 4-1) trailed all the way, falling behind 38-18 at halftime.

Kaiden Hunter swished four treys on his way to a game-high 19 points. Notorius Nelson tallied 11, while Christian Muller led the Knights with 10 points.

Lady Backs bow to Sheridan on the road

SHERIDAN, Ark. – Sheridan’s balance was a key Friday night. The Lady Jackets Arkansas High’s girls, 60-37.

Cabsi Harry had 12 points for the winners, Kassi Martin 11, and Diamond Martin contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Cedrianna Daniels poured in 12 points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds for the Lady Backs. Kiara Young also scored 12 points, while Jayla Easter added 5 points and 8 rebounds.

Arkansas High’s boys also lost.  The Razorbacks host El Dorado Tuesday.
